Air Force JROTC Cadet Leadership Course (CLC)
Developing the Next Generation of Ethical Leaders
The Air Force JROTC (AFJROTC) Cadet Leadership Course (CLC) is an intensive summer course designed to transform promising young citizens into capable, disciplined leaders. Held in a highly structured and focused instructional environment, the CLC prepares cadets for leadership roles within their units, their schools, and their local communities.
A Rigorous Instructional Environment The CLC is not a typical summer camp; it is a “Leadership Laboratory” that stresses the core values of the Air and Space Forces. The curriculum focuses on:
- Team Building : Collaborative exercises that require communication and trust.
- Character & Integrity : Lessons in personal accountability and responsible citizenship.
- Respect for Authority : Understanding the importance of the chain of command and disciplined service.
- Physical & Mental Readiness : Promoting health, wellness, and academic achievement.
The North Texas Partnership: The North Texas CLC is hosted annually at Texas Woman’s University in Denton. This overnight program is a massive collaborative effort, bringing together over 230 cadets from 14 regional high school units, including Braswell, Burleson, Cedar Hill, Central-Keller, Corsicana, Denton, Forney, Guyer, Marcus, Rowlett, Ryan, Saginaw, Timberview, and Wylie East.
The “Mentor-to-Cadet” Connection: A unique strength of the North Texas CLC is the involvement of College-level AFROTC Cadet Training Officers. Provided by University of North Texas (Detachment 835) and University of Oklahoma (Detachment 675), these university students provide high-level mentorship, giving the younger cadets a direct window into the life of a future Air Force or Space Force officer.
