Sam Johnson Scholarship Program
Congressman Sam Johnson
Air Force Junior ROTC Scholarship Program
Recipient of the 2025 AFA Exceptional Service Award as the Best Single Program in AFA

The Congressman Sam Johnson AFJROTC Scholarship Program provides college scholarships to each of the outstanding AFJROTC graduates from fifteen high schools in our area which offer AFJROTC programs, who intend to enroll in ROTC in college. Our program is named in recognition of the lifetime of service that Congressman Johnson gave to his country.
How It Works: One graduate from each of the fourteen high schools is selected by their AFJROTC instructors to receive a $3,000 scholarship. Each student is then asked to submit an application which is judged by a panel of Sam Johnson Chapter members for selection for an additional$10,000 scholarship. Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the scholarship office at the cadet’s university. Once school and ROTC enrollment are verified the scholarship funds will be deposited in their account.
Recognition: Scholarship recipients will be honored at the chapter’s Third Quarter membership meeting, normally in late July. Parents and AFJROTC staff are invited. They will also be recognized at their high school awards convocation and an AFA representative will be present if possible
