Ambassador Jordan serves as Diplomat in Residence and Professor of Practice at the John G. Tower Center for Political Studies at SMU.
He served as U.S. Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, 2001-2003, where he led American efforts to maintain critical relations and combat terrorism in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.
He is a former partner at Baker Botts L.L.P., where he headed the firm’s Middle East practice in Dubai and is a Life Member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a member of the Board of Governors of the Middle East Institute.
He is the author of the acclaimed memoir, Desert Diplomat: Inside Saudi Arabia Following 9/11 and is a frequent commentator for major networks including CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC, and a contributing columnist for the Dallas Morning News.
